Your profile is how members decide whether to connect with you, refer you, or do business with you — before they have ever spoken to you. A complete, accurate profile signals that you are a legitimate, active business owner and makes it easier for Alignable to surface you to the right people.
Use Your Real Business Name
Use your actual company name — not a generic description like "Contractor Marketing" or "Real Estate." If you operate under a parent company, use that name. Generic business names get reported as fraudulent at a much higher rate than profiles with real company names. Your business also needs to be searchable by its actual name so that members who already know you can find you.
Use Your Full Name
Use your first and last name — not "Sales," "Information," or an emoji. Members don't want to do business with a job title or a placeholder; they want to have a conversation with a real person. Profiles without real names get reported as fake frequently and rarely gain traction. Your real name also makes you searchable by name on Alignable so you are easily found.
Add Your Contact Information
Add your website, phone number, and address. A complete contact section builds instant trust because it signals that you are a real, findable business.
If you have a physical location, add your full address so members can find you.
If you work remotely or don't have a public address, use the Hide Address option to show your community without displaying a street address.
Add Your Profile Images
Three images make a complete profile:
- Logo — helps members recognize your brand, especially when your ad or posts appear in their feed.
- Profile photo — use a clear photo of your face, not your logo. People connect with people, and a headshot signals there is a real person behind the business.
- Banner — your branding space. Use it to showcase what you do or reflect your brand identity.
Write a Complete About Us
Tell members who you are, what you do, and how you help — in a few short paragraphs. Keep it concise; longer sections lose readers. If you are not sure where to start, use the Generate Elevator Pitch feature to give yourself a head start, then edit it in your own words.
In the How We Got Started section, share a few sentences about how the company came to be. If you are an employee, that can include how the company was founded and your own journey to where you are today.
Add Your Products and Services
Add at least three products or services, each with a clear description in plain language. Avoid overly generic titles like "Consultation," "Taxes," or "Leads" — these don't tell members what you actually offer or how you help. Write descriptions that someone outside your industry could understand.
This is where the full details about your offerings live. Each product and service also tracks views and weekly metrics, which can help you make better decisions about what to feature.
Define Your Ideal Customer
The Customers We Want to Meet section includes a short description of who your ideal customer is and how you help them, plus industry tags for those customers. This tells Alignable exactly who you want to meet so the platform can surface the right connections already in your network. These are the people who buy directly from you.
A few tips for choosing tags:
- Be specific. "Realty Estate Agent" is more effective than "Real Estate."
- Use existing tags rather than creating custom ones — existing tags connect to live data in the platform.
- Aim for 8 to 12 tags to be discoverable without diluting your focus.
These tags directly influence the quality of suggestions, introductions and referrals you receive.
Add Your Referral Partners
The Businesses We Can Partner With section is where you define the types of businesses that share your audience but don't compete with you. These businesses share your customers. These are the businesses most likely to send you referrals — and to receive referrals from you in return.
Add a short explanation of why those partners make sense for your business. For example, a vet and a dog groomer make great referral partners because they share the same clients (a pet owner) and can recommend each other naturally. That kind of context helps other members understand how to work with you and builds trust before you have even connected.
Connect with Your Existing Network
Sync your email address book to find members you already know on Alignable. People who know you are the most likely to recommend your business — and recommendations from trusted connections carry significant weight with anyone new who visits your profile.
Recommend Businesses You Trust
When you recommend other businesses on Alignable, those recommendations appear on your profile. Giving recommendations signals that you are an active, engaged part of the community — not just there to promote yourself. Members who see that you have worked with businesses they already know are more likely to trust you. Start by recommending at least three businesses you genuinely know and trust.
