SMS verification requires a working US or Canadian mobile number. Several situations can prevent it from working — knowing which one applies to you will point you toward the right fix.
Why SMS Verification May Not Work
- VoIP or Google Voice number — these are internet-based numbers and cannot receive SMS verification codes from Alignable
- Landline number — landlines cannot receive text messages
- International number — Alignable only accepts US and Canadian phone numbers for verification
- Number already associated with an existing account — if your number is tied to a previous or duplicate Alignable account, it cannot be used to create a new one
If Your Number Is Already in Use
If you see a message that your phone number is already associated with an account, you will need to submit a reset request before you can continue. See Why Can't I Sign Up? My Phone Number Is Already in Use for instructions.
How to Verify Manually Instead
If you cannot verify by SMS for any of the reasons above, you can verify your business manually. Manual verification is reviewed by the Alignable team and is the best path if SMS is not an option for you.
-
On the verification screen, select Verify Manually.
-
Enter your Business License number, a link to your Secretary of State listing, your business website, or any other documentation that confirms you and your business are valid and located in the US or Canada. A government-issued business license or official registration document is the strongest option. See Why Was My Alignable Verification Denied and What Can I Do? for the full list of accepted documents.
- Click Submit.
-
You will receive an email within 1 to 2 business days confirming whether your account has been verified or denied.
If your account is denied, see Why Was My Alignable Verification Denied and What Can I Do?
