If you spot someone in a connection's network who would be your ideal client or a business you'd genuinely love to partner with, you can ask that connection to introduce you. Requesting an introduction is a paid member feature.
How to request an introduction
- Go to My Network and click All My Connections.
- Find the connection you want to ask. You can search for them by name or browse the list.
- Click the three dots beside their name.
- Select See Who They Know.
- Alignable lists their connections from most to least relevant to your profile, so the best matches surface first.
- When you find someone you want to meet, click Get Introduced.
- Alignable provides a draft message as a starting point. Do not send it as-is. Rewrite it in your own words and explain specifically why you want to meet this person and why you think it's a good fit.
- Send your message.
Your connection will receive your message along with a link to the requested person's profile and the option to accept the introduction and create a shared group chat with all three of you.
Tips for requesting introductions well
Only ask when you're serious. A request for an introduction asks your connection to put their reputation on the line for you. Make sure you genuinely want to start a relationship with this person before you ask.
Don't send too many at once. Sending a flood of introduction requests to the same connection puts an unfair burden on them and makes your requests feel less sincere. Be selective.
Be willing to reciprocate. If someone in your network asks you for an introduction, pay it forward. The members who give generously are the ones who build the strongest networks.
