How to Set Up a Smart Connect℠ Event

Alert: Only Group Leaders or Ambassadors can host Smart Connect℠ events on Alignable.

Hosting a Smart Connect event puts you at the center of meaningful connections between your Group and Alliance members. You are the host of the party and how you set up your attendees will help determine how successful their experience is.

When you bring the energy, keep them engaged, and are able to answer questions as they arise, you become the event host with repeat attendance!

Smart Connect℠ is the right format when you're planning to run 5 or more 1:1 breakout sessions within an hour. Choosing this option ensures your members receive the right email notification when they register, sets the right expectations, and makes your event searchable in Alignable's event discovery page and group carousel.

Choosing the right event type

When creating your event, you'll have a few hosting options to choose from:

Smart Connect℠ — Use this for structured 1:1 networking with 5 or more breakout sessions in an hour. Members will be automatically matched for speed networking rounds.

Host your event on Alignable's video platform — Use this for educational events, hybrid events, or networking events with fewer than 5 breakout sessions. This option also works for events where you want full control over the format.

Naming your event

You do not need to include "Smart Connect" in your event title. Instead, use a shorter, more compelling title that focuses on who attendees will meet or what they'll get from showing up. Good examples: "Meet 1:1 with Women Business Owners" or "Meet a New Connection Every 7 Minutes."

Image Dimensions

Uploading images that are 580 x 360 will allow for the best results and least amount of repositioning. Make sure to use the scaling tool to center the image and size it to fit comfortably.

Frequently asked questions:

How do I set up the time and amount of people for the breakout rooms?

This will be automatically set up with the Smart Connect℠ standard of 7 mins and 2 people in a room (the exception being one room will have a third member in it if there is an odd number of people).
