How Do I Remove a Member From My Group Chat on Alignable?

Only the creator of a group chat can remove members. You might need to do this if you accidentally added the wrong person, someone is no longer relevant to the conversation, or a member is being disruptive or sending inappropriate content in the chat.

How to Remove a Member

  1. Click Messages in the top navigation.
  2. Find and open the group chat you want to edit.
  3. Click the three dots (...) in the top right corner of the message thread.
  4. Click Edit Group.
  5. Click the X next to the name of the member you want to remove.
  6. Click Save.

What Happens When You Remove Someone

The removed member will be able to see the conversation history up to the point they were removed. They will not receive any new messages from the chat and will no longer appear as a participant. Removing someone from a group chat does not affect your connection with them on Alignable. If you want to re-add them later, open the group chat editor and search for their name.

When to Report in Addition to Removing

Removing someone from a chat does not automatically report them. If a member is sending spam, inappropriate content, or behaving in a way that may warrant removal from Alignable entirely, you should both remove them from the chat and report them separately.

To flag a specific message, see How Do I Report a Spam or Inappropriate Message in My Alignable Inbox?

For more serious concerns where you believe the member should be reviewed for removal from the platform, report them directly from their business profile. See Can I Block Someone on Alignable? for instructions on blocking and reporting from a profile.
