How Do I Post to a Community or Group on Alignable?

Communities and groups are where you connect with a broader audience beyond your direct connections. The key to posting well here is understanding who your audience is — it is different in a community than it is in a group, and your posts should reflect that.

Posting to a Community

Your Alignable community includes everyone who lives or works in your area — not just people in your industry or potential customers. That means community posts should lead with local value, not business promotion. Think local legislation, something happening on Main Street, a resource that benefits the whole community, or a conversation that any local business owner would find relevant. The goal is to be a connected, contributing neighbor, not a salesperson.

Posting to a Group

Groups are organized around a specific topic, and everyone in the group is there for that reason. Your posts should stay on topic and serve that audience. Use the group to learn about pain points, share knowledge, and add genuine value to the conversation. The members reading your post are potential customers or partners — earn their trust by being helpful, not by pitching them.

A good rule of thumb: if your post would feel out of place given the group's name and purpose, it probably belongs somewhere else. For example, a post about tax season does not belong in the Alignable University Group, which is focused on networking and how to use Alignable — not general business topics.

What Applies to Both

  • Write in your genuine, professional voice and share original content relevant to the specific audience you are posting to.
  • No advertising — communities and groups are not the place to promote products, services, or events. Those belong on your business profile.
  • No contact details or off-platform links — keep conversations on Alignable.
  • Do not copy and paste the same post into multiple groups — each group has a unique audience and deserves a post written for them. Copying the same message across groups is considered spam and may be removed.

How to Create a Post

From inside the group:

  1. Log in to your Alignable account.
  2. Navigate to My Groups.
  3. Select the community or group you want to post in.
  4. Click into the Start a Discussion box and write your post.

From the Groups page:

  1. Click the Post to a Group box and select the community or group.
  2. Type your post and add an optional image.
  3. Review the group rules and acknowledge your post follows them.
  4. Click Post.

Moderation and Safety

Communities and groups are managed by leaders and moderators. Posts that break the rules — including profanity, hate speech, or off-topic content — may be removed. By sharing thoughtful, genuine content, you help keep Alignable communities engaging and supportive for everyone. Terms and conditions apply.
