How Do I Report Inappropriate Behavior at an In-Person Alliance Event?

As an Ambassador, you are responsible for creating a safe and professional environment at your in-person Alliance events. If a member behaves inappropriately at one of your events, follow these steps to address it, protect your community, and notify the Alignable team.

Step 1: File a written report

Submit a formal report through Alignable's abuse reporting process. See How Do I Report Abuse or a Problem on Alignable? for instructions.

If other members at the event were also affected, ask each of them to submit their own report using the same process. Multiple reports from different members help document the full picture.

Step 2: Contact the member in writing

Send the member a written message through Alignable asking them not to attend your future events. Your message must include the reason.

Reasons to cite include, but are not limited to:

  • Making other members feel uncomfortable
  • Inappropriate business behavior
  • Excessive promotional activity
  • Alcohol consumption leading to poor behavior
  • Any other conduct that does not meet your community's standards

Be clear and specific, but you do not need to use accusatory language. Consider using an AI writing tool to help you state the situation clearly while keeping the tone professional and neutral. The goal is to get your points across without escalating the situation.

If you do not have the member's contact information on Alignable, you can request additional connection credits to send them a direct message.

Step 3: Remove the member from your Alliance group

  1. Navigate to your group directory.
  2. Use the search field on the left side of the page to find the member by name.
  3. Click the three dots [...] to the right of their name.
  4. Select Remove Member.
  5. Confirm the removal.

Step 4: Notify the Ambassador Programs Lead

Post in your Ambassador Slack channel to notify the Ambassador Programs Lead about the situation. Include a summary of what occurred and the steps you have already taken.

Step 5: Alignable follows up on email access

The Ambassador Programs Lead and the Head of Member Success and Trust and Safety will work with you to stop future event email invitations from reaching the removed member.
