Smart Connect℠ is Alignable's virtual networking format where you meet business owners 1:1 in timed breakout sessions. A few minutes of prep before your event starts will make the experience much smoother.
Set yourself up for a great experience
Smart Connect℠ events are fast-paced and social, a little preparation goes a long way toward making every minute count.
Find a quiet space free of background noise and distractions before your event starts. A private room, a closed office, or even a parked car works great. The less competing for your attention, the more present you'll be in each 1:1 session.
Make sure you can stay for the full event. Dropping in and out mid-session disrupts your breakout partners and means you miss connections. Block your calendar, let your team know you're unavailable, and give yourself the full window.
And one important reminder: never join a Smart Connect℠ event while driving. These sessions require your full attention; you'll be on camera, in conversation, and switching between rooms. Pull over and park first.
System requirements
Smart Connect℠ works best on a laptop or desktop using the latest version of Chrome or Edge. Firefox and Safari work but may have limited functionality. You can also join from the Alignable iOS or Android app, or from a mobile web browser. If you run into issues on mobile, use the Report an Issue button to share feedback — mobile support is actively being improved.
Camera and microphone permissions
Smart Connect℠ needs access to your camera and microphone. The first time you join, your browser will ask for permission — click Allow. If you missed it or accidentally denied access:
On Chrome, look for the camera icon in your address bar, click it, set both camera and microphone to Allow, then refresh the page.
On Android: follow these instructions
On iOS: follow these instructions
When you click Join Event
You'll land on a setup screen to connect your audio and video. This is the only time you can blur your background — check Blur Background now if you'd like it. Confirm your camera and microphone are working before entering the event. You must have your microphone and camera working to be admitted to the event.
