We're excited for you to experience the way we network on Alignable! A Smart Connect is the perfect opportunity for you to meet new business owners. This is an opening conversation for 7 minutes to see if you want to continue to build the relationship after.
In order to ensure that everybody has a productive experience, here are the Smart Connect℠ Guidelines to follow when networking on Alignable:
- Do introduce yourself warmly and authentically
- Do ask meaningful questions
- Do share valuable insights and experience
- Do follow up after the event
- Do give the other attendee your full and undivided attention
- Do leave the other attendee time to talk about the topic in the breakout room
Don'ts
- Don't give a sales pitch
- Don't focus solely on what you can gain from the conversation
- Don't dominate the conversation
Important things to note:
- Come ready to participate - We will be breaking out into 1:1 networking sessions so you must have your camera on and microphone working
- All communication is required to be business professional, and for your security we strongly encourage you to keep communication on the Alignable platform through in-app messaging.
- Focus on building genuine connections - Your ideal referral partner may be in an industry you’ve never considered. Talk about your business and yourself, not what you're selling. Your goal is to meet new business owners and connect with them
We have a streamlined way of reporting actions that do not align with positive networking behaviors.
These are actions such as, but not limited to:
- Overt self-promotion
- Being distracted during the breakout session
- Language that is abusive or disruptive in nature
To report your breakout partner for any of these behaviors outlined, you can click the report flag on their profile card as shown in the screenshot below.
This is anonymous and will not alert them in the meeting. These reports will be sent to our Trust & Safety team to evaluate and can lead to conditional and/or full loss of Smart Connect℠ access.
We take these reports very seriously and urge you to review these guidelines and best practices. Familiarizing yourself with these will help you understand our expectations and contribute positively to the community
