How do I host a virtual event in an Alignable Group?

What are virtual events?

As a Group Leader or Ambassador you can create and host online virtual events and invite group members as guests. Using Virtual Events, you can help your group members build relationships beyond your group's feed through face-to-face conversations, discussions, and online conferences, further enhancing your community and your member's ability to grow their businesses through networking with their peers.

Please note: Only Group Leaders and Ambassadors can host events on Alignable.

What types of events could you host?

Some examples of the events you can host within your group are: 

  • Smart ConnectsSM
  • Ask Me Anything ('AMAs') 
  • Expert Panels valuable to your group members.  
  • Masterclasses for group members to show expertise, skills, and knowledge.
  • & More!

How to create a virtual event on Alignable?

To create a virtual event, please follow these steps: 

  1. Find and Access your Alignable Group.

    Log into your Alignable account, access your group by going to My Groups.

  2. Start Creating Your Event

      In your group start creating your event by clicking Event from the post box

    • Select the right option based on the event type you are wanting to host

  3. Select Your Event Type

      If you are creating a networking event, you should select the Smart Connect℠ option when you intend on running 6 or more 1:1 breakout sessions in an hour. This ensures members of your group get the right email notification when they register and know what to expect from the event. This will also make the event searchable in our event discovery page and group carousel for additional visibility.

      • You will no longer need to have the words Smart Connect in the name of the event, you can use shorter event titles that focus on who they will meet/what value they will get from the event e.g., "Meet 1:1 with Women Business Owners" or "Meet a New Connection every 7 Minutes"

    • If you are running a different variation of a networking event, an educational event or want to do a hybrid event where you have no breakout sessions or fewer than 6, you can still run your event on Alignable by choosing the Host your event on Alignable's video platform option.
    • If you want to run an event using an external join link such as zoom, webex, meet ect.. Please select the Host your own online event option.
      • Note that if you use an external join link, the event will be displayed in your group carousel and searchable in our events discovery page but will not get additional email promotion.

    • If you are an Ambassador of a local Alliance group you will have a 4th option to create an In-Person Networking event. This option will be exclusively available to Ambassadors.

  4. Fill Out Your Event Details

    Fill out your virtual event's details including:

      • Event Title
      • Featured Image (You must have the rights to the images you choose)
      • The time & date of the event
      • Choose if you want this to be a recurring event or a one-time occurrence
      • Event description and details

  1. Finish & Publish Your Event

    • Finally, click Post to publish your event.
      Once you publish the event, your event will appear in the group's feed, your group carousel and any Smart Connect℠ events you create will also be sent to your group members through email with an announcement of the new event and an opportunity to register.

 

 

What has changed?

We disabled the ability to use Alignable Zoom from the Event creation modal effective December 8th, 2023. You will now put in your personal event join link and when members click "Join Event" on Alignable, they will be taken to the platform your join link connects to.

 

FAQs:

Can I use a personal Join Link from platforms other than Zoom, Webex or Meet?

  • Yes, as long as it is an active personal join link, it can be used as an external link option for the events you are creating.

Can I use a registration link when setting up an event?

  • No, only join links can be used when setting up an event.

Can I still make someone the Co-Host?

  • Yes, see the help center articles for your desired external link to see details on allowing a co-host.
    • Once you update your host permissions you can go to the RSVP list on your event details page 
    • Click the 3 dots next to the members name and select make host.
      *This extra step of making them a co-host on Alignable is only needed if you want them shown to registrants as the co-host from the event details page.

Can I set up an event to be recurring?

  • Yes, you just need to make sure it is a link that is set to recur and can be used at any time and not a one-time meeting link.
