Building a strong network on Alignable doesn't require hours — it requires consistency. A few focused minutes each week, spread across the right activities, will move people from strangers to connections to trusted referral partners over time. That's the know-like-trust funnel in action, and it's the foundation of everything on Alignable.
Use the A.L.I.G.N. Framework — the same framework that guides your profile — to organize your weekly activity. Each letter represents a stage of the relationship, and every week you should be moving people forward across all five.
A — Acquaint: Stay Findable
This is your first impression — make sure it's accurate and working for you.
- Review your profile for tag accuracy, products and services relevance, and overall performance. Outdated or inaccurate tags mean the wrong people find you — or no one does.
- Review your group memberships. Are you active in all of them? If a group is generating noise but no value, leave it. Staying in groups you're not engaged in dilutes your presence.
- Attend events to meet new people and expand your network.
L — Like: Show Up and Be Helpful
People connect with people, not businesses. Showing up consistently in groups builds familiarity — the first step toward trust.
- Post in a group or comment helpfully in at least one group this week. A thoughtful reply is worth more than a self-promotional post.
- Use post insights to check for any engagement on your posts — reply to comments and acknowledge reactions. This is how casual interactions turn into real conversations.
I — Identify: Know Who's a Fit
The more precisely you've defined who you want to meet, the less time you waste on the wrong conversations.
- Review your ideal customer and referral partner tags for accuracy. As your business evolves, so should your tags.
- Paid members: Use Insights to see who is viewing your profile. Connect with those who make sense for your business — they're already interested in you.
- Paid members: Look at where your likes and views are coming from. Use that data to focus the rest of your time on Alignable where it will have the most impact.
- Paid members: Check Alignable 360 to see which of your referral partners know the most of your ideal customers. Those are the relationships worth deepening first.
G — Give: Be Generous With Your Network
The fastest way to build trust is to give before you ask. Recommending and referring others costs you nothing — and it tells your network exactly the kind of partner you are.
- Recommend any businesses you've moved into the trust phase with. One or two genuine recommendations a week goes a long way.
- Refer or introduce at least one person to a trusted connection this week. A warm introduction is the most valuable thing you can do for someone in your network.
- Paid members: Use Allie's suggestions to identify the best referral and introduction opportunities in your network.
N — Nurture: Keep Relationships Moving
A connection made is only the beginning. Relationships that aren't maintained quietly fade — and with them, the referrals they could have sent your way.
- Connect with new members. Respond to all incoming connection requests — accept the ones that make sense, ignore the ones that don't. Do the same with incoming recommendations.
- Respond to all messages. Leaving things unanswered signals you're not active or not interested.
- Send messages to anyone you need to follow up with or want to keep a relationship going with. Aim to touch people at least once a month or two — a short, genuine message is enough.
- Ask for a referral or introduction to at least one new person this week. But don't overdo it — if you send too many requests at once, you won't be able to keep up with the conversations. Quality beats volume every time.
- Paid members: Register for at least one Smart Connect℠ event this week. You'll be matched with the right people based on your tags — not random ones.
- Paid members: Use Allie's suggestions to know who to reach out to next and take action on keeping your best relationships active.
Remember: it takes time to move people through the know-like-trust funnel. Every message, recommendation, and introduction is a step forward. Take 30 seconds to write a thoughtful connection request or introduction — a personalized note is far more likely to start a real conversation than a generic one.
