I'm Getting Notifications That Someone Is Trying to Log Into My Account — What Should I Do?

If you're receiving notifications that someone is attempting to log into your Alignable account, you are likely the target of a credential stuffing attack. This is a common type of cyberattack where an attacker takes login credentials leaked from one service and uses them to try to log into other services — including Alignable.

Why This Happens

Credential stuffing attacks are effective because the majority of people reuse the same password across multiple services. If your password was exposed in a data breach on another site, attackers will try that same password on Alignable and elsewhere.

What to Do Now

The best defense is to use a unique password for every service. If you've been reusing your Alignable password elsewhere, take these steps right away:

  • Reset your Alignable password to a strong, unique password you don't use anywhere else
  • Update your email password as well, since your email is often the key to all your other accounts
