How Do I Report a Spam or Inappropriate Message in My Alignable Inbox?

If you receive a message on Alignable that is spam, harassment, abusive, or just does not feel right, report it. Every report is reviewed by the Alignable Trust and Safety Team and helps keep the community safe for everyone.

Spam vs. Inappropriate: What Is the Difference?

Use Flag as Spam for promotional messages, unsolicited sales pitches, copy-paste messages sent to many people, chain mail, or any message that is clearly trying to sell you something rather than start a real conversation.

Use Flag as Inappropriate for anything that does not belong in a business conversation. This includes messages involving religion, politics, harassment, comments about someone's appearance, or anything else that feels offensive or out of place in a professional setting.

How to Report a Message

  1. Open the message you want to report.
  2. Click the ... (three dots) to the right of the message box.
  3. Select Flag as Spam or Flag as Inappropriate depending on the type of offense.

What Happens After You Report

What happens next depends on the severity of the offense and how many times that member has been reported. Alignable may issue a warning for the behavior, or remove the member entirely for serious or repeated infractions. Your report is always anonymous. Alignable never shares who submitted a report or identifying details with the member being reported.

Block the Sender

Reporting flags the message for the Trust and Safety Team to review, but it does not stop the member from contacting you again right away. Blocking does. When you block someone, they lose the ability to message you or find you on Alignable. You should do both: report to protect other members in the community, and block to protect yourself immediately. See Can I Block Someone on Alignable? for step-by-step instructions.
